How to ...

How do I go about complying with the Codes of Practice?

Once you have researched, or sought advice on which Code of Practice is applicable to your vessel and area of operation you should contact a Certifying Authority and obtain Form SCV1 (Small Commercial Vessel Application). Of course, the choice of Certifying Authority is entirely up to the individual, but the PCA recommend the YDSA, where PCA members qualify for a 10% discount on all Code of Practice Administration and Certification Fees. (Fees paid directly to your nominated surveyor are not discounted.)

Form SCV1 is available from the YDSA main office or from Nominated Surveyors.

With the YDSA (Yacht Designers & Surveyors Association) you have a choice of Compliance Examiners. YDSA Nominated Surveyors are Members of the Association, not employees, and you are free to choose from over 60 YDSA Nominated Surveyors around the UK and overseas.

A full list of YDSA surveyors with Code of Practice experience is available on the YBDSA website.

If you are already registered with another Certifying Authority, you can transfer to the YDSA at no extra cost.
